About our service

It is highly recommended that first time customers schedule a visit with their pet. During the visit you are able to check out the kennel, have your pet meet Sherry and ask any questions you may have. Also, it will make Applewood familiar to your pet when they get dropped off.

Please keep all pets on a lead or in a carrier when coming or going for your pet’s safety.
Please give 24 hour notice to change reservation dates or drop off and pick up times.
Check your pets for parasites (fleas, ticks, worms) and treat them before you board for the protection of our other pets.
We prefer all pets be on a heartworm, flea and tick preventative. Although it is not required, it is for the protection of your pet.
We regret we are unable to accommodate aggressive or “unfriendly” pets.
There is a two day minimum charge for every stay.
We recommend your pet stay on the same diet for their stay to prevent stomach upset, please bring their food (make sure it is enough for their stay) in a marked container.

We offer multiple pet discounts $2.00 a day less each pet.

Drop off and pick up “by appointment only”

No charge to administer medication. Please bring in a container with instructions.

How We Charge

Day of drop off full day is charged (after 4pm 1/2 day is charged)

Pick up before noon, 1/2 day charged, after noon, a full day is charged.

Vaccinations

Dogs- Rabies / Distemper / Bordetella (at least 2 weeks before boarding)

Cats- Rabies / Distemper (males must be neutered)

All pets must be 6mos. or older and we recommend they be spayed or neutered but will determine whether they are a good fit for Applewood based on personality.

Exercise

We provide leash walks at no additional charge. We have 3 fenced in areas for exercise as well. Pets are taken out several times daily. We offer play a few times daily to those who are interested.

Feeding

We prefer your pet to stay on their own diet so they will not have to "deal with change" (upset stomach) while in our care. You may bring your pet's food in a container with their name on it.

Medication

We will administer medication, etc. orally and topically at no additional charge (as long as it is not excessive). Should your pet be in need of emergency care, North Country Vet. Services is less then 4 miles from our location.

Boarding Tips

Make reservations well in advance to board your pet in the Spring, Summer, and around holidays - schedule a visit with your dog. Unfamiliar places can be stressful, and stress can affect your dog's health.
Exercise your dog before you bring him to the kennel - let him go to the bathroom and stretch his legs. Long goodbyes often trigger stressful feelings, so you may want to keep it "short and sweet" when you drop off.
Do not feed your pet the day you bring him to the kennel - upset stomach from feeling "nervous" is common, and if your pet becomes ill, we will need to contact you.
Pets sometimes feel "left behind" and take it out on their personal belongings; you may want to limit what you bring.

Drop Off

Drop off is not normally conducted in the evening, as it disrupts the pets "settling in" for the night. New boarders may need time to "adjust" to their surroundings before bedtime.
